Dealer Member Benefits

— why join tmda?

The Texas Motorcycle Dealers Association provides members with access to a wide range of resources designed to support dealership operations, strengthen industry knowledge, and keep Texas dealers connected to important developments across the powersports sector. Membership includes access to exclusive programs, educational opportunities, member-only offerings, and ongoing support throughout the year.

TMDA is committed to helping dealers stay informed and prepared. Our educational initiatives - including webinars, member communications, and the TMDA Annual Conference - offer opportunities to learn from industry experts, participate in roundtable discussions, and connect with peers across the state. These programs help dealers expand their technical and business knowledge while gaining practical insights they can apply directly at their dealership.

  • Dealer-to-Dealer Support

The greatest benefit of TMDA membership is the ability to connect, learn, and grow alongside other Texas powersports professionals. By joining the Texas Motorcycle Dealers Association, you gain access to a statewide network of dealer peers who openly share ideas, real-world experiences, operational insights, and solutions to common challenges.

These relationships strengthen your dealership’s ability to adapt, stay informed, and make better business decisions. Whether through our annual conference, e-newsletters, or ongoing member communication, TMDA helps you build meaningful connections and stay engaged with the trends, issues, and opportunities shaping the Texas powersports industry.

  • Statewide Partnerships & Advocacy

TMDA maintains strong working relationships with key state agencies and industry associations to ensure Texas dealers are represented where it matters most. We collaborate closely with the Texas Motor Vehicle Commission, the Department of Public Safety, and the State Comptroller, providing dealer perspective and technical feedback that is often requested before new rules or regulatory changes are adopted.

Beyond our agency partnerships, TMDA works alongside leading statewide and national organizations such as the Texas Automobile Dealers Association (TADA), the Texas Independent Automobile Dealers Association (TIADA), and the National Powersports Dealer Association (NPDA). These partnerships strengthen our ability to address franchise protection, regulatory consistency, consumer issues, and industry-wide challenges that impact Texas powersports dealers.

By staying connected with these organizations and maintaining an active role in policymaking discussions, TMDA ensures that the voice of Texas dealers remains strong, informed, and influential across both state and industry platforms.

  • Legislative Protection

TMDA provides strong, proactive representation at the Texas Legislature and with the state agencies that regulate, tax, and impact the daily operations of powersports dealerships. By uniting the voices of Texas dealers, TMDA ensures that our industry is heard and taken seriously on critical issues involving labor, taxation, franchise protection, licensing, compliance, and public policy.

We closely monitor legislative activity and regulatory changes that affect powersports dealers, keeping members informed of proposed bills, agency rulemaking, and emerging policy trends. TMDA also collaborates with statewide and national partners to coordinate advocacy efforts and protect the long-term interests of franchised dealers across Texas.

When many voices speak as one, dealers are stronger, better protected, and better positioned to thrive in a constantly evolving business environment.

  • Texas Motorcycle & ATV Laws & Regulations

TMDA is committed to helping our members stay informed and compliant with the laws that affect motorcycle sales, operation, and dealership activities in Texas. To support you, we provide access to trusted state resources and help you find the information you need quickly and confidently.

One of the most reliable references is the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), which maintains up-to-date details on motorcycle operator licensing, helmet and safety requirements, registration rules, and other state regulations that impact both riders and dealerships.

We encourage members to use the TDLR motorcycle laws and rules page as a starting point when questions arise, and TMDA is always here to assist if you need help navigating these requirements or understanding how they apply to your dealership.
